Its like a go devil or a splitting maul.
Yeah, I've been calling them go devils for more then 50 years, but if I had used that word the majority of people would have no idea what it was. I had already ID it as a splitting wedge.
 
Yes, it looks like the end of a Splitting Maul.
 
Back in the mid '70's, I was in a bowling league and named our team "Go Devils". All because I had found a couple out metal detecting.
 
I think you got the FRONT half of a splitting maul!!!
 
I'm thinking the broken back half of a cold cut hammer.
