River find stone ax?

The rivers are low in Southern Ohio and fishing wasn't the best a week er so ago. So I switched to rockhound and before the rain got too cold I found this! The usage scares seem interesting. Any confirmation on if it's an ax would be great or ideas always appreciated.

It sure would get my attention too! I'd wait for some other opinions before reaching a conclusion. I've found many doubtful ones myself and have been surprised by an archaeologist's professional opinion that some which I thought were likely natural were actually made by woodland people thousands of years ago. He had studied and found many stone tools, so it was a credible opinion.

If it is worked, it’s not really an axe shape I’d call it more of a preform or a blank but it’s awfully smooth for a worked piece but water can do that… I’d lean natural but sometimes is tough to tell from pictures

Your find has no defined purpose. It has not been worked to serve as a possible tool. As I say, "It is a want-to-be". Just a natural rock, but I would not give up looking.
