I want to say "broad axe" ??? but I could be wrong.
 

That was made flat on one side for hewing beams. That form showed up around 1780 and I've seen it on axes all the way into about 1900. Very nice.
 

You can buy a brand new broad ax today if you want one.

Yeah, but his looks 19th C. Also, I don't see many hewing broad axes being made today. I'm sure some specialty makers are still producing them, but then again you can buy a modern "Medieval" or "Bronze Age" ax if you want one, too. :thumbsup:
