I got out to the fort that I?ve been recently searching. It was a slow start and a slow finish. I actually had to hit 3 lots today just to recover what I did. Both buttons were from the artillery barracks I?ve been hunting. The first button I pulled out was this 4 hole brass button that is well worn. I can only make out a portion of the marking that says Improved. The second button was the US Great Coat button with a back mark of United States. The 3rd find from that lot was a shako hat artillery insignia of a cannon. Like all the others I?ve found there it?s broken. The second lot I hit turned out to be dud today. I moved up the road and decided to hit another barracks site and found a rivet, a dropped 54 caliber musket ball and a shot one as well. There is a young kid who lives at the fort location and seems to be excited about the history and my finds. Last week I gave him a few relics including a button and some round balls. Well today I brought out my old AT Pro and gifted it to him. Should have seen the smile. It all about the kids! Picture coming tomorrow! Thanks for looking!
