I went back to my spot today and came away with some interesting finds. I found a lot of pottery today and a few worked pieces, the best piece has been re-worked to form a new point. I also got my first insitu picture of a point; I always grab points as quick as I see them, but decided to take a picture first this time. Looks like a productive day. I'd say that piece had seen a lot of use and re sharpenings.

Good eye on the insitu, I would have walked on by that one! All that pottery alone would have made my day! Do you think you could get a clearer pic of the pottery, maybe tomorrow in the daylight? I mostly find pottery and I like to see other types from other areas. I like to see the markings on them mostly. You don't have to say the city but what general area are you at in Alabama?

I can definitely get some better pictures of the pottery. None of the pieces I have found have marks on them however. They all seem to be plain and only show the grains of the material used to make them. I live in Tuscaloosa, Al, but these were found in Greene County, Al in west/central part of the state.

You may have seen my posts which are almost nothing but pottery because that's 95% of what I find in my creek. But i do find a lot that have no markings. I was just going to Google yours to see what tribes and the types of temper they used, that kind of thing.

Most sections of pottery wont have decoration on them you will have to find the rim section to find markings.
Hey Joe on the point what is up with the hook on it? Looks interesting and how long have you been collecting?

I've been collecting for about 12 years. I starred when I was about 14 hunting plowed fields in Virginia. I believe it was a bigger point or one that was broken and since then has been reworked into something useful. Idk why they left the ear.
