Back from the Caribbean.....

Lots of gold found on my trip.....just not by me! I was the king of coins and junk jewelry though. I did get some silver however. 5 pieces. My main highlight was a plastic and metal wallet case with some soggy money inside. The person it belonged to had an expired driver's license and some hotel room cards, but, nothing else of any value so I tossed those. It had been there a long time, as the bills were falling apart and had transferred some of the ink to each other. I'll have to see if my bank will exchange them. One of the ring is one of those OURA ones. Can those be reprogrammed and reused somehow? Do they have some sort of battery inside? I'm not sure how those work and what all they do. 80 coins from all sorts of countries, and 33 pieces of junk jewelry. Just amazing that I didn't walk over some gold as there was 12 gold found between the 7 of us. Fun trip though. Lots of great food, weather was nice, everyone stayed healthy.

Looks like you had a great trip.

OURA rings have a built-in rechargeable lithium battery which needs to be recharged every few days, but you need the custom dock and USB cable supplied with the ring to do that. The docks are $59 fro OURA (cheaper on Amazon) and size-specific, so you need one that matches the ring size. If it does charge up and is still working, the ring will be Bluetooth-paired with someone’s phone or other device and linked to their account via the OURA app. Normally, that’s how OURA would trace a found ring to reunite it with the original owner if they are contacted.

A pre-owned ring can be used by someone else, but they would need the charger to perform a factory reset so the ring can be unpaired from the original user’s device, and then a new account set up (free) via the app to clear the original owner’s details. Gen1 and Gen2 models only provide basic information, but from Gen3 models onwards you can pay $70 a year for membership as well as having an account to access the more advanced features.

Sounds like a lot of hassle to me and requiring some outlay that doesn't guarantee success. You might as well contact OURA support to see if they are prepared to help get the ring back to the original owner.
