Back To NH. Anchor Clasp & Maybe Colonial Silver Spoon Handle

went for a one hour search at the soon to be excavated shoreline site.
they have been removing floats thereby exposing unsearched areas.
most interesting is the small bent Silver spoon handle, looks intentionally damaged, no plowing here.
some may remember the fork in similar condition from last week.
makers mark 'B-D', T.S.S. stamped on front, other than a small chevron at end, no deco.
The simplicity of design and makers mark, totally eroded bowl, and lettering style are what lead me to think it may be of Colonial era, anyone have an opinion :help:
Also dug another strap clasp, interesting design with Anchor, More help requested on this piece :notworthy:
terracotta & "davidson Glasgow' pipestems.
got my first Crotal, 1" dia, intact clapper :hello2:
Large copper piece, tool handle? seems too large for a boat rubrail.
Musketball in wood fragment..
Thanks for looking & HH all

Re: Back To NH. Anchor Clasp & Maybe Colonial Silver Spoon Handle

You need to change your Tnet name to "Spoonbillwill" Herbie. I agree wqith MM, the bullet in wood is very cool. Clear coat and it will make a nice addition to your large and ever growing military relic collection. HH, Quindy.

Re: Back To NH. Anchor Clasp & Maybe Colonial Silver Spoon Handle

I believe your "Strap Clasp" may indeed be a Sash Buckle, it looks to be the right size. Nice Finds

Thanks for your comments everyone!
Saltyshark, Ive been digging almost 2 years, found 9 regular type bells of different sizes & design, took a long time to get a Crotal,
though I see them posted all the time, go figure :icon_scratch:
Dirtman, Thanks for the Id, I've learned to be careful about what terms to use when describing 'Buckle type things', wondering if it may be military :help:
I really enjoyed this quick hunt, HH everyone !!

Re: Back To NH. Anchor Clasp & Maybe Colonial Silver Spoon Handle

Great Buckle!! The slug in the wood is also very cool. What do you think? Someone took a shot at a ship or boat
and the splinters went flying? A shot into a tree that ended up on the shoreline? Nice stuff, Herbie! :headbang:

Anchor is a good sign. nice find.

I knew you would get a crotal. I believe I mentioned that in a reply not too long ago.
Funny how luck goes, I still have no skeleton key, at least 6 crotals.

Thanks HMN!
I believe that Crusader previously IDed these as victorian era curtainrod holders.
I've got a few myself :laughing7:
I may have posted a whatsit before :icon_scratch:
