Back to the River, More Lead, Sunshine, and Deer.......

I went back to the river today to get some more lead, the water was a little higher today due to recent rains, so I only got 12 pounds this time. Well the day wasn't wasted, I went for a nice hike around a nearby island and took a few photos for you folks. I will post more photos on the Daily Snapshot forum (I think that is what it is called). The first two photos are of one pocket of lead, I ended up getting a 1948-s Roosevelt dime out of that one too. A little later I got a wheatie in poor condition out of another pocket, it has no date visible on it.

The next pics are a shot of the river and one of the resident whitetail deer on the island, I saw about twenty of them today. It was a beautiful day to be out. I hope everyone was able to get out and find some stuff too.

Good hunting....Steve

Looks like you had a great time just getting out. From the pictures the weather looks beautiful.

Steve,
I think I know where you are pulling out those jigs cause I have lost some there. ;) ;D It's been a while but I have fished the spring walleye run. I tend to do more dirt fishing now than water fishing.

Cool how you found silver with that lead.

Yep you are right Bob. :) I am hoping to get a gold ring that is sitting in with the lead as both metals have similar density, or maybe a long lost colonial coin, so far I have gotten three coins though.....Steve

Hey Goldiver,

I'm probably setting myself up here, but what the heck. Are you purposely looking for lead? Are you selling it, or just melting it for your own use? I remember looking for fired lead bullets with my dad and grandpa as a kid. We melted them down and cast the lead into weights for duck decoys.

I've recently discovered a lead bonanza at our local, pulled-down lake. I had to leave after 1.5 hours because I could hardly keep my pants up. I might invest in a pair of suspenders if there's decent value there, though.

With all that lead you would think that something of the gold nature would be hiding in there. Keep looking and keep em coming.

I will be melting it down for use as decoy anchors to sell, and diving weights for myself. If just melted into ingots it is going for around 1.00 a pound.....not much, but at least it helps the environment......Steve.
