Had a couple hours to kill today so I went back to the site I found the cut Spanish silver. Took it real slow and concentrated on the deeper targets. No Spanish but I did get an 1830s Montreal Un Sou token which is a first for me. It's in great condition and should clean up nicely. Also managed a couple decorative shoe buckle fragments which tells me I am definitely in the right area. A few doodads, a couple musket balls and two of the best tombac buttons I have ever found. Too bad they weren't engraved. Still more hunting to do here.

Yes, looks like you're on to something there.
Interested to see what pops out next.

I'm hoping that the cut Spanish isn't the best target from this site...but I won't complain if it is! ;D

That Sou looks good enough you might even have a chance to ID the variety.

It's in the HP now!

I have a Sou that I dug a few years ago. I am looking forward to the cleaned pics.

You did very well, swinging slow seems to be your style of hunting. I'm very suprised to hear that the UN SOUS token is your first. I have found at least a dozen of them over the last 5 years down here. I wonder why they are common around here, and rare up your way. Also, its in very good shape considering it was in that tough soil. Looking forward to your next hunt!.

You are definitely in the correct 1700s location now. :icon_thumleft: The shoe buckle fragments and tombac buttons are telling you to stay in the immediate area. You will be finding some more Colonial relics soon, my friend.

Great handful there...your in a great area so keep them coming.. :icon_thumright:

Wouldn't it be nice if all the buttons came out looking like that? Nice! :icon_thumright:

Nice finds Romeo!

I thought about emailing you last night to go for a hunt today, but it was too late. :(

That sou is a beauty. I found one not long ago and IP id'd it for me... nice to see one thats in great shape come out of the ground.

Keep em coming brother! :P

I love that Sous token..And those tombacs..Nice digs :icon_thumleft:

As usual, I'll go against the grain here, and say the piece under the spoon is the most intriguing to me. Round medallion-like object, twisted corkscrew to a threaded pointed piece. Can't get my head around what it may have been used for, or how it might have been useful. "Very interesting" ala Arte Johnson.

Yeah...the pointed corkscrew thing is odd...most likely modern and farm related.

Looking forward to more great finds!
