As a lot of you know I have been down with busted ribs. Well, today got the best of me and after a little antique shopping I decided to hit a small park a mile or so from where I used to live and boy howdy am I glad I did. I got my oldest coin to date and silver. Not coins but jewelry. Not just a ring. Not just a necklace. Not just a bracelet BUT ALL THREE :o
At first I thought I was in pulltab hell, but I told myself I had to just keep on going and dig 'em and one might be a ring. Well it turned into a clad penny party for awhile, and then I got a pretty sweet but odd signal. Turned out to be a heavy mens sterling bracelet. A few tabs and a bit of clad later came another big hit.I actually saw the object, and yes it was silver. A beautiful silver necklace with a nice heart shaped pendant fully intact and not corroded in the least.
Then maybe an hour later and a bunch of clad hanging in my pocket I thought "Another penny!" Well it was a penny, but it was a 1919 canadian large cent. A bit larger than a quarter but thinner. I thought it was a baseball token and pocketed it, but when I looked at it during a break, I was very pleased to see what it was as old coins are VERY hard to find here.
Long story short I was headed back to my rig, thinking my luck must have run out for the day,but still swinging, and be danged if I didn't pull up a sweet little sterling ring. I washed it all off and gave it a quick rubdown and I am now the proud owner of 41.7 grams of new to me sterling.
It really was an awesome day, and I am very happy to be swinging the MD again!

Now can anyone tell me about cleaning that 1919 Canadian large cent up a little?
