✅ SOLVED Baggage tag

Dug this in Cape May County, New Jersey. It is a, J. Robbins of Boston tag with a rectangle hole, with C. U. L. The composition is copper. Not sure if this baggage tag is railroad or some other form of transportation. Thanks in advance. Art

Thanks, looked at that site and a few more. The only thing I found was that it is an early example. Looks like a C to me under magnification.

Since it is early a possibility may be the "Citizen's Union Line" - I can't find much info on it yet but I think it was a steamboat line.

It was in that area though. This is from The Baltimore Sun, July 2, 1844. There is reference to the Citizen's Union Line connecting from Baltimore to Cape May.

Great job on the research. Had a felling it was going to be stagecoach or steamer. The time period is right on with the early Robbins tag. Thank you for all your time nailing this one down, very cool. Art
