Well, Thursday night (March 3rd) myself and Mastereagle decided the weather had gotten nice enough to warrant a hunt. This hunt started like many of our others in years past with no decent place to go. We had an itch to scratch though, and decided to hit an old yard in town. It was small, but we decided to go slow and see what we would find. We found nothing basically, so we moved on. This house had obviously been detected before. There weren't even many "bad" signals.
We moved on to a house we hunted late last year along a busy road. We always go there late at night (after dark) to not attract attention. I hate loosing a place to another detectorist along a busy road. This place had a few signals, and we were looking forward to the hunt. Mastereagle found a cool metal squirt gun as well as probably 10 wheats. He also managed a cool Felix the Cat Pin from around the 20's probably. I actually think the pin might have fallen off his hair when he pulled his headlight off. All of you from the CTH hunt probably remember how he wore his hair up in dog ears while he hunted. It's shameless really.
Well, here is what I found. I think Mastereagle has my detector settings goofed up since he was messing with it. I couldn't get a good signal to latch on to save my soul. He was gloating all night about the wheats he was finding and said I just needed to put in more time with my detector. I punched him in the brain. I had to hit his head about 75 times to find it.
I managed a Western Xpert Shell Brass; a military Star Pin; 1941 Nickel; 1948 Wheat; Aluminum Play Money marked 25; Shell Casing (modern); Rolled Copper (Plumb Weight?) and what I believe to be part of a toy spur. The thing at the top middle I thought might be a bullet jacket, but I am not sure. Thanks for looking.
