Bank is willing to order Ikes

First of all I don't know anyone who will pay more tan $1.00 for a clad IKE. I still take them if the teller has some but I just turn them back again after looking at them. When I did get them in bulk they came in a $1,000 bag. I had no problem ordering more if I wanted them.

I am guessing that the Ikes that come in bags are mostly ones customers have turned into the banks, a few at a time. The service Company bags them because banks are not going to order them by the roll for their normal commerce. That would account for why most are clad. I don't think the service company can order them from the Federal Reservelike the other coins. That may be why they do not allow banks to order them any more.

Has anyone actually ever gotten a box of the large dollars rolls? May have been a long time ago, but just curious as to the types of coins you found.

The only place where large dollar coins were used heavily were in the casinos. Most IKES were produced for use in the casinos. That was in the 70's. THere is no reason why they would be rolled by machine and put in a box now.

Yes... I remember going to Nevada Casinos and coming home with a few SL's and Peace Dollars. They were more of an interesting curiosity then.....

The following was cut and pasted from a Federal Reserve FAQ page.

Can I obtain specific coins and currency from a Federal Reserve Bank?
The Federal Reserve Banks only provide coin and paper currency directly to depository institutions. You may call the depository institution you bank with to see if they will honor your request when they order currency or coin.

Sooooo? Did you place the order?I'm thinking you dont get what you don't ask for

Wouldn't be surprised if they ship out a bunch of Presidential dollars. They have so many of those things sitting around that oops, thought you wanted small golden dollars. LOL

Just picked up some boxes at this bank, the manager was out for the day. Ill ask again next week.

Just sold 60 Ikes for $100 on craigslist. got 5 $20 bills, KEEP THE IKES, people want them. Totally worth it

If you actually get WF to order the Ikes, PM me and let me know.

Thanks,
TGB
