Baseboard heater question..? Seeking opinions / knowledge

Now “kids” get all excited about burning used motor oil. There used to be something called “heating oil”. Go figure.

In the end, you could heat a house with a split, baseboards, infrared, incandescent bulbs, or a full blown forced air system. It boils down to the wattage thing.

I don't miss not having to be sure curtains and other things are not trying to take the space a baseboard is using.

In my shop, I have a single, ceiling hung 5k/7k watt heater (50 amp circuit) which does well in the coldest of times, and even though I only have 3-1/2 insulation and no rock on.

We are thinking of an add on to the house, to move the stairs. It would include a hobby room and an office. The dim witted types in charge of permitting want me to add a split. Never mind that the lower half of the house has zero insulation, but would be insulated, along with the 2x6 project and its insulation. I might consider moving the split out to the shop to allow me to replace the big window conditioner and the ceiling heater.

I have done building and remodeling 50 years. Base board heaters are the first thing pulled out. I just don’t trust them to be honest.
If you can look at a slit unit mentioned above it would be peace of mind. I have and like the wall mounted propane heaters on some jobs they last and are cheap to run but they do cause a lot of condensation so you have to run a dehumidifier to pull out moisture.
Good luck and be safe.
