Finally got in an hour's worth of MDing just before dark last night.

The 10 year-old boy who occasionally stays with his nana next door to me jumped at the chance to go along. I think I will take him along EVERY chance I get !! We went to a property close by that has produced for me in the past. I warned him that we might not find much of anything there, but he would learn a few things about Metal Detecting ( which REALLY piqued his interest )

I decided that we would only dig signals from the Ace 250 that I was pretty sure would be coins ( did not have the time left to dig what I felt were "questionable" signals ) In that 1 hour, we dug 9 holes and EVERY ONE produced a coin. 9 for 9 !! WOW !! ( 1 SILVER Roosevelt & 8 Pennies, 2 of which I discovered when I got home to shed some light on them, were Wheaties ... the oldest being a 1935-D.

My new little buddie Ashton was rewarded with a Strawberry Sundae from Sonic on the way back home as well as a 500 Peso I had dug in the past on a previous hunt. Me thinks EVERY Sunday from now on, I will be taking my "Lucky Charm" with me.? ?;)

Wow!!!, sounds like you both had a really great time... I think it's fantastic that you took the time to share your experience with a little guy... More people should follow your example...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Not sure that's accurate. As I understand it, the Mexicans revalued their currency in 1993. 1000 old pesos = 1 new peso. So a pre-1993 500 peso coin would be worth half of a current single peso. I remember visiting Mexico before that time, and many merchants were not interested in pesos due to their ever-decreasing value.
