it reminds me of a refrigerator compressor more pics would be helpful , is it real heavy for it's size ? more pics of those attachment points please.

Just as another possibility,how about an old Butane tank? Like on real old Butane fueled tractors?

Definitely some old type of compressor could even be from an A/C.
