It's been months since I've been out swinging a coil. Went out last weekend and again today. Scratched gold on both trips. Can't wait to find one of those half pounders I hear about.

Cool. Always a winner day getting any size. 👍

It weighted 1.1 grams. I'm happy to be finding anything. I moved to a different state. Learning the area is not easy. The expanse of land to search is overwhelming. It's going to take some time, but I'm confident I can get back to being a gold slaying machine. I've heard so many stories of people finding one to five pound nuggets. I'm sorry I ever doubted you CG.

Any way to tell what rock type the nuggets are coming from?

In time you will be on the trail again with some more finds........nice.

Your being 2 for 2, it might be a good time to stop and pick up a lottery ticket on your next trip out. Here's to hoping your winning streak continues.
On the lighter side, does it help if one rubs the lottery ticket over the metal detector and batteries?........... :laughing7: :tongue3:

Yeah but it's gotta be a winning one. Any amount as long as it won something. Ups your chances too if you leave it in the battery compartment 😁

I like your thought of putting a winning ticket in the battery compartment. My thought on improving the chances to 50 / 50 is to also tape a more common loosing ticket over the coil. This way the batteries will always be on the winning side and the coil can discern all of the loosing targets.........:laughing9::headbang::notworthy:

We may be on to something 🤔

We could be in for some trouble if this 'Rubs off' on others reading this thread......:dontknow: :hello:

As a note here when one gets near the rock / formation / event that has the larger nugget bearing gold in it having some winning batteries will improve one's chances.

This will clearly improve one's chances with any detector and looking at the surroundings at the same time.

I think we should patent this idea before others beat us to the punch 😁

This is why I have always looked forward to talking with you as you have a very good insight that you have gained over the years.
Thank you for what you have shared and not shared as one can learn from both.......:icon_thumright:

One can use a cheap detector and still find something noteworthy to help see / understand one's surrounding. This alone can improve one's chances.

The one in my hand is .7 grams

Same stuff I looked for in Redding. Iron stones and clay seams. Colorful ground. I found the 1 Grammer where it was deposited by nature, just uphill from a digging and in line with the seam. It was below the top layer of dirt in the clay seam. The other I found in a ravine of the same soil type about 500 yards away, half dozen humps away.

The clay seams can be great metal detecting grounds.

Maybe one can also look at some of the iron stone / rock and start to find some pickers or better?
If one happens get into iron rock that one can spot colors in with their eyes may start a different approach.
Most people will not take a look at iron as most detectors are overwhelmed over very much iron. There are some methods written about how a detector can be used by trying to reduce the iron background field that the detector can be overwhelmed by.

May you fine tune your approach to get back on the trail of finding more targets / fun.

As a side thought you could go back to the same area after a bad winter storm and see if the clay seam is exposed or weathered more to detect deeper with nature giving a helping hand moving the clay.

Better yet use a winning lottery ticket and buy a bulldozer cat to move the clay seam formation to make it easier to metal detect.............. :icon_thumright: :hello2::cat:
