Be aware -- BoA to start charing $5 monthly fees just for having a debit card

It's not just BoA apparently. All the banks are lining up to start charging new and higher fees.

Can we be surprised?

Banks exist for one purpose: to make money off of money. Period. That's all they do.

Morals and community might make for good marketing, but at the end of the day, all they're after are your Benjamins (or these days, Hamiltons).

They don't care about you and you really are just a number to them. You exist to make them wealthier.

End of story.

May we never forget that and adjust our attitudes accordingly.

What upsets me even more at our bank's "new" practices, is that, we have a senior account - which, when we got it, was supposed to have benefits for banking seniors.

Along with the new charging of using your debit card at any atm machine, we can no longer make money orders for free (now its 4 bucks), we can no longer get 150 free checks (now its 50), they dropped the payment of interest, (it was never much to begin with, but, a dime is a dime),
AND, like I said, they took their atm machine away (which I don't understand).

So, the big benefit of our senior account, is now - (drum roll, please)........50 free checks.
