Beach hunting questions

Hello! Been interested in treasure hunting along the Southern beaches of FL based out of Jupiter. Actually from Orlando but gf has snowbird grandparents with a condo in Jupiter. If I can tear myself away from snorkeling at Coral Cove, what are neat areas to go to when they arent in the middle of a re-nurishment project? Not too too familiar with the area but I know where CC is and am good at maps and can work from there(any other good snorkel sites out of curiousity in that area).

I was looking at a dual use underwater and surface metal detector, but have an el-cheapo surface detector already. I have heard Garret LS detectors are pretty good, any other recommendations?
- Is shallow water snorkel detecting very effective?
- I have heard at least two Spanish fleets wrecked along the coast, what local areas would these be spread out on? (no I do not expect secrets divulged if someone here knows)
-How difficult is SCUBA diving and metal detecting along the coast? I am already certified and have some dive partners.
-Are there any restrictions to detecting along the beach or in the water around Jupiter?
Any other equipment I should invest in?

Remember, these are the center point of some of the wrecks in the Fishers lease area. There are others inside the Fishers area, and there are many outside their jurisdiction. Maybe someone here has those. I saw a chart of the East Coast years back on here, that had a listing and showed where they were.

Whats the difference between an Excal one and Excal two? and is a used One worth $700 if it works?

There are some minor differences over the years. But basicly it is the same unit. And yes, $700 is about the lowest you might find for a good used one. The early ones and the new ones have 8" and 10" coils. Usually they say Excalibur 800 for the 8" and 1000 for the 10" Then it was the very first ones had an 8" and that was it, it was just called an Excalibur and the coil said Seasearch, and later came out with a 10". They both work well. The newer Excal II seems fine too. I am sure they have refined them over the years.

Sorry just read your post. Congrats on the Excal, yes I am up for a trip, especially if your in my local area...... Where in Florida are you located...

Down the road from you. Currently residing just across the county line in Osceola Co. so unless you moved since we last talked you are just a hop up the turnpike and 429. I actually go pick it up on Monday morning.

Get a fishing license, a catch bag and a spear gun and go fishing. When the season opens then go for Lobster, that's treasure you can eat.

Woot! Got the detector and as it was too late to make it to the beach for low tide, I hit up google maps and found a local lake with a beach to try it out. I found...... a rusty nail, two pieces of iron wire, then I switched to discriminate and found.... 2 heavy nickle washers, 3 beer bottle pop tops and when I checked the soft sand volleyball court, a aluminum can pop tab.

I have a distinct feeling this beach was/is heavily detected. As its only a 15 minute drive I will check the water next in hopes that whoever has been hitting the beach doesnt use a waterproof detector, plus water levels are ridiculously low(and cold) right now.
