Here are some agate flakes on the desert south of Cibola, AZ.

Kinda neat to know that an Indian, hundreds of years ago, squatted right here and knapped a tool of some sort. I haven't found any arrowheads or such but the amount of evidence of activity says I will if I just will keep looking! ╦╦C

A good eye will find them. I always walk -real slow when I spot a flake.

That burnt desert gravel looks a lot like many areas of Los Vegas.

If it was a flute spall it would show flake removals on the side with the ridge. Like these. Gary

Thanks Gary,
I couldn’t help but notice pic#4, a fluted-flute spall. Very cool.
Is that modern or ancient?

All modern that I made. I fluted the 4th one but the first flute was just a skimmer so I set another platform and fluted it again. Gary

The Sugarloaf paleo site in the Ct. River Valley of Ma., excavated by Mike Gramly and his ASAA crew, has yielded many channel flakes, and some have been able to be reattached....
