We had our second bear around the place (that we have seen). Didn't have any time to get a pic, they sometimes are pretty skiddish. the first one was just a small cub, we never saw the sow. this one was the normal for this time of the year, juvenile male that has been kicked out. Time to quit the bird feeders and keep the bird feed put up securely in the locked up garage. This is actually a false sense of security as a big bear doesn't care about such trivial inconveniences...they make a way inside if they want to.
These young teenage males are pretty darn hungry and desperate for food as they try to exist on their own for the first time. Anything to fill their stomach will do and I mean anything. I grew up around bears, the wife has seen them numerous times over the years but not so close and in your yard. The cat immediately gets on top of the roof of our two story log house and stays there until they are gone. The young males are funny to watch, they are like clowns as they try to figure out how to get to something to eat. They can be dainty or they can act like starving bears and just barrel in. We have had excessive rain this year and this has affected many things in nature so it can be a very busy bear summer this year. Pretty, cute and still a wild dangerous animal that is trying to survive.
