Decided to take a late afternoon hunt with my Dual Field at my local beach. Weather was beautiful. Detecting the wet sand I attracted a small group of kids following me asking questions. Looking a lot like the Pied Piper.
They were quite excited by my picking up the quarters and other coins. When they left I ambled up to the dry for a few minutes. Picked up a small band and quickly put in my pouch..then two feet away another band. Quick into my pouch and with a hope and a prayer ...before looking at it closely enough...maybe gold. Third ring just a few feet more looked like a band with diamonds. I lasted about ten minutes before I couldn't stand it any more. Took off my glasses and looked closely... number 1:junk, number 2: junk, number 3: not diamonds..junk too.
So..at least it's a beautiful day and a nice cooling breeze off the ocean. I head back hitting the wet sand a bit higher on the slope. Nice strong signal but the target is very deep...close to a foot. Ring number 4. I couldn't wait on this one...took off my glasses and my heart sank a little at the scuffed appearance of the outside of the ring. But then I notice an engraving inside! I turned the ring a bit and there it was 14K. Big smile all the way home..weighed in at 6.1 grams.
Gotta Love this hobby!
