Did the family thing this weekend so I didn't get to spend hours upon hours in the mosquito infested Connecticut woods. However, I did slip out this evening for a couple hours to a site I haven't been to in a year or so. This place is completely briar infested and very hard to hunt. I took some time to smash down some of the undergrowth and make holes to swing the coil in. I figured my attempts of hunting this site again was a flop until I got a very nice screwcap/penny signal at the base of a large briar patch. I assumed it was a button but I didn't know it would be this beauty. This CT seal button has the Canfield & Bro/Baltimore backmark with the shank completely intact and upright. I can't find this paticular button with this backmark....can anyone help? Thanks for lookin!!

Your creative hunting paid off for you in a big way ! I don;t find many seal buttons and it;s a happy day when I do :icon_sunny: M.R.

Nice Civil War/Pre-Civl War era Connecticut Coat Button Sniffy! That sucker cleaned up beautiful :headbang:

Have to see the design/stlye of the backmark to tell for sure if its an 1850s or an 1860s era:

Here's a link for you to compare your backmark to:

This Canfield & Bro backmark is being a tough one to find on the Seal button. I can only find the Bal. Variety mine says Baltimore.

Wow, what a beauty! Would you mind sharing what method you used to clean her up? Pretty remarkable how well it worked.

Funny thing...this is actually my first Civil War Button. Wasn't that this year? All this stuff starts blurring together....

very VERY nice!!!

Congrats Sniffy on your first Civil War Era button man Tice's CT205A3 [Alberts CT 13] :occasion14: And a Beautiful one I may add, did you use lemon juice or Aluminum Jelly on it? I use both depending on the circumstances of the button. It came out nice regardless :icon_thumleft:

That's AWESOME! I too couldn't believe how well that cleaned up. I thought that was your button and a stock footage picture. How did you clean that?
