My son and I had such a good day out hunting! Someone I met on here on tnet gave me a great tip about 3 years ago and we finally made it out exploring! We were walking together and saw it at the same time.. he actually saw it a split second before me! It is a really nice piece to hold. Such a good good day!!!! My son's find not mine! All Native American leather goods would need holes punched in those. I can see Obsidian being a great tool for that. It is amazing how sharp the pieces can be.
I can't believe the size of those chunks. Thanks for posting that video CaptEseban! We usually find the grey and spotted obsidian being brought up from New Mexico. Thanks sandchip, I was looking into what would be perforated. I am guessing mainly clothing. I found that you would usually only have one outfit. Southwestern cultures pounded sagebrush and used the fiber for clothes. I always find it interesting the clothing they have found in the caves. I once found some corn seeds in a cave here in Colorado. I don't know if a pack rat brought it there or what. Happy Hunting!!

..I have one obsidian dart piece found in Ne. I find chips from time to time..

" Ya just gotta know,
Where to go !"
LOL
I was wondering that myself. I've never found even an artifact flake of of black obsidian in Colorado. Nice find. I might have a couple perforators about the same size made out of jasper from the upper Arkansas River area.

Very nice, congrats!
Here's a somewhat similar looking piece I found in western Nevada.

That is a beauty also. I found a lot of arrowheads as a kid, but didn't have knowledge that the indians made more tools out of flint and other stones.

Thanks for the posts, my son will enjoy reading them. Tamrock I have a jar of obsidian chips found in Southern Colorado, I have one point that is extremely extremely fine, I should post it! Joshuaream, I agree, my sons finds are definitely more exciting than any of mine. Dougachim, that is an amazing collection you posted!!!! I am amazed!! I love that piece you posted oldmxrat. It was nice we were walking close by when he found it!!!!! Thank you all for the posts!!!
