Been Awhile - Indians, Coronet LC @ 9

been away from here for awhile but looks like things have gotten much better!
thanks jeff for the info! :)

last Sunday dug a Coronet large Cent at 9" deep. I had the X-1 probe buried in the hole at the final resting place of the LC. And right next to it was an iron nail! That's why I love Iron Mask on EX II - I heard the iron but heard the coin too. Amazing!

Found two indian head cents - 1882, 1905.
Wheaties - 1910, 1917, 1920, & 1934.

found a gold button "Union News Co." - best looking gold plated ever for me!

relics found - old cow bell and suspenders clip. That large circular ring was at 12" deep.

My 1813 site that I gained permission to hunt is starting to produce! It was a perfect w/e for MD'ing! Hope you all do well this season and find at least one of your dream coins! HH!

Good to hear from you again. It looks like you did a great job of working that new site over the weekend. Nice coin and relic finds. That button is outstanding!
Any date on the Large Cent? It looks like it still has pretty nice detail.
Best of luck to you on future hunts at that site. HH!

Re: Been Awhile - Indians, Coronet LC @ 9", and gold button!

Thanks all!

The Seeker - the IH in good condition was under large pine tree branches. The other one was out in open where I assume they used lots of Scotts turf builder or fertilizer.
Both were covered in green crud - removed with baking soda paste, water, and toothbrush.

jeff of pa - the Silver Stuff looks like it may be sterling and i think it was a rim around
a sugar bowl or candy dish. Probably taken outside for a picnic and lost in grass.

groundfisher - no date on LC. Have soaking but think date is toast on this one.
Coronet LC were minted 1835-1857.

gypsyheart - silver band was dug this way. Probably munched by lawn mower blades.

Hey, Ocean, Nice post. Looks like you had a great hunt.

I can't believe the difference in those indians. I found one under a pine tree.....not very deep...but it was awful. I assumed it was from the pine needles.

Re: Been Awhile - Indians, Coronet LC @ 9", and gold button!

Mona Lisa - thanks! yeah strange but the tree was a cedar i think, and one of the IH's was very deep. They were both green crud until scrubbed but I've seen this happen before with IH's from heavily wooded areas.

these pics show IH's dug in same area - far right coin was in bad shape compared to far left. may just be drainage at that exact spot cause I know fertilizer did not come into play on these IH's because they were in the deep woods.

HH!
