Been Digging

So i have been digging in the creek today and in running into some strange material. I'm hitting the dark clay layer and then deeper I'm running into this light colored layer. It looks almost like decomposed granite but I'm not sure. It's got shine to it as it breaks up. Anyone got any ideas? I'm finding gold as i go deeper so I'm not wanting to stop digging just a confused. Thanks! Here is what i found today

What color is the surrounding bedrock?

Decomposed bedrock as a layer doesnt have as much other gravels in it.its almost all uniform.

I think that's what it is. Is there known to be good gold in it?

It depends sometimes I find some and others not so much.since its basically in a free state gold will want to work down through it till it hits on a fixed layer.I might start working layers and go from there.so just work that layer through your whatever and if theres color it should answer your questions.if there isnt then go up a layer to your clay and just work that for awhile.
