Haven't seen rat tail for awhile,I reckon he was on a hawks menu.This guy in a profile,and going away shot.

I still think that it is possible. It is the time of the year that certain animals prepare themselves for the comming breeding season. Also look how fast the deer family regrow their horns after shedding them?
