Before and After (After to come) of yesterdays creek finds

I found a few preforms, flake scrapers/blades, what I think is a hide hole punch (Top right of photo 1/2 before clicking on it), and a potential broken Clovis/Plainsview (I'd love your opinions on that!) yesterday while walking the creek.
Most of the stuff has a fairly heavy patina or "dry" look. The recent oil posts have inspired me to soak all of it (except the broken point) and see what comes out! :) I'll update in a few days with pics in the same arrangement (and maybe a few closeups of the large preforms, because they are loaded with fossils!).

Story:
I was solo hiking through mountain lion country and found fresh mountain lion scat right as the sun was setting and my body was starting to fatigue out from the 10 hour creek hike. All I had was a stick and a hammer to defend myself, and I had an 80 lb backpack strapped on, so I was pretty scared. I'm glad I made it out alive to share the finds! lol

I was skeptical on the Clovis most claims are something else, boom there it is... as best I can tell. Folsom isn’t out of the question

Yea, I've heard Folsom or Plainsview as well since the fluting isn't as extreme. All of those are super old though, so I'm happy with whatever it is! lol

Carry a Howdah hunter for those pesky cats. Nice finds looks like a early site. No telling what else might be there.

I decided to reward those that come back with individual photos so they would be in focus on all subjects. :)
My favorite is the hide hole punch (or whatever the first two pictures are). It has some weight to it for just being a flake tool, which makes it feel like a high quality piece.

Side Note: (I realized after soaking that one of the scraper/flake-blades is hematite, and not dirty flint. I've found a collection of around 8 different hematite tools now that range from a hand-hoe to a few very rudimentary celt type pieces, to a small hand scraper and now this scraper/blade. I started a thread about the first piece I found, but it was moved to geology because I only had one piece and it was questionable. I'll start a new thread once I get them all cleaned and photographed with the entire set.)

Nice finds...don’t be scared while enjoying our wilderness.
We are superior to all the rest...leverage technology as the pioneers did.

Nice little airweight .357 mag revolver in the pocket.
You get used to it like a pocket knife after awhile.

Just a suggestion.

The only cat I snuck up on stood there 20’ away contemplating his move for 3-4 minutes.
The dog and I were apparently not worth the risk of injury. I did have a handgun in hand..but really just enjoyed the experience.

I agree. Predators abound in this world, of both two and four feet.

Nice find on that Clovis base!

you got the fire under you man! keep it up. you're on a good spot.

in hunts i've come across all sorts. black bear, large... not play time bobcat bigger than a lot of mountain lion videos i've seen, both kinds of boar (sounders of feral pig and the hump razor back scary kind), every kind of snake for my area (poison and non), packs of what people call "coywolves" so like a coyote bred with a large attack dog ect ect... from my experience having a .45 with a spare clip might make you personally feel a bit more comfortable. However, all of these critters made a bee line away from me in personal encounters. even tapping on the heads of many rattlers with my walking stick.

so personally. .45 on the hip protection is a comfort but added weight.

get a pistol/big knife/bear spray if it makes you have a more enjoyable hunt and feel comfortable.

otherwise you're likely going to have more issues with inebriated/ texting drivers on your way to hunt rather than the critters.
