Belt buckle?

I found this today in a very old yard. It was 8inchs deep and appears to be brass. Any guess on how old it could be?

Looks kinda like a horse tac buckle, but I'm no expert by any means.

It's horse tack ca 1880 - 1920....prob closer to the earlier date. Nice find!

Awesome! Someone said horse tack on another site too. It must be old because the yard it was found it would t have had any horses or horse related items since at least the 1800s.

Any chance it could be older? I know this was a hotbed for colonial activity as well.
