Spent over 8 hours detecting on my own, but with Cru'dad supporting on the GPS.

We had to change our game plan a little, as some scumbag was on the field last night. Seeing as it was only harvested yesterday, they must have saw us & went on at night. Hopefully I will met them 1 night & I won't be inviting them around for tea >:( >:( >:(

So we hit the most productive areas first to suck up the coins before the nightdicks arrive.

Got 50 Roman Bronzes which is my best 1 day total ever! Some nice larger types including a rare French mint which only minted for 3 years (AMB).

2 Hammered - A Groat & a commonwealth halfgroat, thanks SS

I also got the best Roman Bronze Key I have found ;D

Plus a Roman dagger/sword pommel!

Dreaming about tomorrow already & I hope the night life are out as its peeing it down :D :D

Too bad about the interlopers on your field. Accidents are a very strange thing though. Sometimes, when you're out at night on unfamiliar land, you trip into a trench and the back fill covers you up. Of course you get pulled out after about 500 years by another detectorist, so all is not lost.

Seriously though, it is sad. Hope they didn't screw too much with the research you and your dad have compiled. Best of luck completing the work.

He' Cru, that is one fine key. I really like that one! Yes you are pulling out quite a few romans there. And the count bronze/silver is about right for normal sites I guess, that is what we find. We had one field about 100x200 meters, was searched quite a few times in the past until the owner only let us search it (the other guys messed around too much), well we found 400 romans the first year we searched it (about 10 hours), 300 the next year, 200 the next and last year not many (we are cleaning it out) roman, but now got a few celtic and nice relics. Funny sometimes no relics only coins, other fields or other times on the same field, many relics and few coins... I will never know....
