Wind and rain today, so we couldn;t get out lobstering, so went to an area I just started covering. It is an old farm with 3 houses still standing and 3 old house foundations and an old barn foundation. Got permission from the main owner as well as the 2 neighbors. The area covers about 5 acres or so 4 of which are neatly mowed...
The owner also said if it would make it easier for me he would mow the remaining high field so I can get at one of the old house foundation as well as the old barn foundation. He also should me an old picture from the early 1900;s showing the layout of the houses, the last one of the 3 burned down in 1910, and the other 2 were already gone then. It showed the access road to the shore (I live on an island) and from the pic I could see the layout of the missing houses and made a plan to cover. Well today I found not only the shown 1898-O barber dime and 1854 Large cent, but also a 1899 Barber dime, a 1891 Canadian large cent, 13 Indian cents..dates....1873,1881,1882,1897,1900,1901,1902,1903,1904,1906,1907,1909 and one unreadable date. Also foudn the following wheaties....1909,1920,1922,1927 and 1940. All this TODAY!! And this goes along with the 2 large cents (dates unreadable) and silver wedding band I found the other day. Best part is that I am only 1/3 of the way over the area for my first time and still have the field to do as well. I know where I will be for the next few weeks on my days off..... Maybe some large silver will show.. (Not that I am complaining with what I have found thus far!!!!!!!!!!)
