I'm constantly asked (as I'm sure many of you here are too..), "What's the BEST thing you've ever found"? Well....I can now pretty much answer that question very easily! Here it is! 14K Yellow Gold, Halo/Basket setting with approx .75 to 1.0 carats of diamonds around and a WHOPPER of a center stone. Somewhere either side of 2 carats. Likely in the J-K color range but still giant! Found on the beach about mid slope. I was thinking I found one that was lost this past summer that Gigmaster, I and others had searched for as a return but was never found. It too had an oval diamond but in a different setting but I think the stone in this one is a bit bigger! I had already made up my mind that the gold was real and the stones fake, no way this was real right? When I got home and put it on the diamond tester I couldn't believe it! I tested it multiple times and still wasn't completely sure till I took it to my Jeweler and he confirmed it! I'm still kinda in shock a week later! Can't stop looking at it! lol

I have found many rings with big stones in the last 10 years of detecting but the biggest REAL diamond was a 1 carat stone. Biggest real diamond until now that is....I took it for an appraisal and should get the results back possibly tomorrow.

Pretty happy with this one as you can imagine! Also as a bonus on the same hunt, I found a PRISTINE 1880 Morgan Silver Dollar! Couldn't believe it! It is in WAY too good of a shape to have come out of the ocean and it's not something we often come across beach hunting in our area so I'm guessing it was dropped out of someone's pocket. Maybe a good luck token or something?

Good luck all, I hope you all get some good stuff too! Merry Christmas!

Here are another two picts with some better light. Ring was appraised at $12,200. Diamond is a low color grade, M, so kinda drops the value of the stone.
A bit of an update...decided to sell (consign) the ring through a local jewelers, and had the stone taken out for a better appraisal and it jumped up 2 color grades and is now a "K" color and not an "M". and total weight is 2.03 carats... Increases the overall (appraised) value of the ring to somewhere around $15,000 now. Nice!

Massive congrats Doc! I know what you mean about "can't stop looking at it." I am choosing to hold onto my holy grail I found last summer (for now). Every time I look at it I say "wow, I can't believe I found this!" And it encourages me to get back out there. Also, the value of these will always be there unlike the fiat paper money we trade for them. Well done brother!

Best find ever has to be what the finder considers there best find. Is there best find monetary value ? Most memorable ? Myself I found a recently lost engagement ring Value $6,000 What I consider my best find is a elderly lady's Grandmothers lost wedding ring that had been lost for over 30 years. What would you consider best ?
