You Brits find these quite often but they are quite rare on this side of the pond...1550-1650 double D spectacle buckle.

First 2 are a couple of my Fav.

The rest are a picture before I added the descriptions, which are now on display in our local Museum. This is only about 1/10th of the complete collection. :icon_thumright:

That's only a fraction :-\ there are a lot more in what I used to call my scrap bucket, but since being on here and watching what you, and the outhers post from over there :notworthy: has made me more appreciated of finds, I used to take for granted :headbang: so I will say thanks to you all

It's funny some things like early military I could hold my own against you  but buckles, they just don't turn up here often. It's pathetic how much digging I've done to get so few, mostly just pieces.

It is obviously a lot harder over there :P to find the sites that produce the quality finds, we can find sites from a huge range of dates here. Most of the regular posters like yourself and Timekiller to name but a few, would have what it takes to be sucsessfull over here.

I feel the same, since being on here I appreciate these more. However, its a bit like the Buttons for me. Started of detecting with no interest in Buttons/Buckles but when you find so many your interest begins to grow & I always now enjoy getting a new type of either. As its becoming increasely harder to find them.

Yes! I was the same way about Roman coins, no appreciation, but once I ..... ah forget that. :-\

Those are some awesome buttons fellers! Here are mine. My favorites are the two baldricks, the two large iron ones in the bigger group, and the military ones, which I've found too few of. Thanks for looking.
