No matter what detector you use, you'll always wonder if
you're missing great finds that are just an inch deeper than
your machine can see.
With that out of the way, I'll add that the rule of thumb seems
to be that the best you can hope for is about the same as the
diameter of your coil. If you have an 8 inch coil, you might detect
as deep as 8 inches under ideal conditions. Usually conditions are
not ideal, so you get a little less. Maybe 5-6 inches on average.
This all applies only to VLF machines, like yours. PI machines have
different rules of thumb.
thanks your help when detecting today and found a mexican 1000 peso which i thought was gold coin its the same size as a liberty dollar it was about 9 in deep
