Big Buck Down!!

Awesome Buck!! Congrats!! And if you didn;t take out the inner loins, or tenderloins, then you missed out on the best meat of the deer...those are the first things I go for...back loins are good but don;t even come close to the tenderness or taste of the tender loins.
Mainedigger--I guess we missed out on those inner loins! My husband is still hunting and if he gets a deer, I'll have him be sure to cut those out.
Thanks for the comments!
kind regards,

Nice lookin deer bet it tasted really good! I wish Jeff could have the time to go out again I miss having deer in the freezer! Would like to see a pic of the mount when its done! Josie really great job droppin him on first shot I've known a lot of guys that can't get that done and one guy that if they didn't drop he would not go after them, some one else would find his deer days later with the arrow still in it. You did great keep up the good job! :icon_sunny:

Thanks MG! We'll post a picture of the finished mount----usually it takes the taxidermist about 2 months get the mount done, so probably in February we'll have another "buck on the wall". ;D

Sandcreek he is so correct. The inside loins are the fillet mingon (sp) hehe. After you gut up against the spine is two long loins. They are not as big as the back straps but they are the best meat there is on the animal and a couple of meals in them.
Those bases look big. Nice un !

Thanks TnMtns. We'll be sure and cut the inside loins out next time!
The bases of the horns on this buck are big---but the spread was awesome!!! My daughter can't hardly wait to get him back from the taxidermist!
