✅ SOLVED Big chunk of brass

Dug this in close proximity to some flat buttons and blue feather edge pottery in the SC Lowcountry. Have yet to find any other pieces to it. Heavy brass that is just slightly over 3.5" across. Unlikely ordnance related.

Anyone have any idea what it may have been to?

My guess would be the base to pestle mortar.

Errr refroze,,, broken bottom / base of the mortar... heh

Similar... but not limited to.... this............

I think you nailed it ARC. The base is slightly beat out in the center as if taking a lot of punishment from the inside.
