✅ SOLVED Brass eagle button ID

Hey guys, going through stuff and I came across this button I dug a few years back in Huntsville Texas. This was from a site ranging a long span, I would say about mid 1800s to mid 1900s.
I have tried looking for an exact one, but it is difficult to find one with the exact same shield. I found one, but the the wings were just slightly different.
The back reads “waterbury & scovill mfg co”
I have seen this company manufacturing ww2 buttons but none look like this.

Found a couple other things on the internet about this button, wondering if this is the consensus on it?
It seems if I compare what each of these imagines is saying, it’s a general staff button from 1879-1890? Does that seem right?

Nice button. Very little military activity in my area. I’d love to find an Eagle button!

I’d agree. My opinion is it’s a post CW button. Mid (post 1865) to late 1800s.

Found this in my reference books, looks more like your backmark. The Eagle and shield variant matches this Civil War Staff in Tice's book, and its backmark is the same though in 2 rings of dots. I believe its period, if not just slightly post.

Difference I see is in “co”. Big C, little (underlined) O, star. I think it’s the same backmark in op’s second post, from tice.
