Went out for an hour on Sunday. My eyes must be getting worse because I walked over a small stretch multiple times without finding anything. I gave up and decided to go back. As I walked out I found this point laying where I had crossed probably 4 or 5 times. Makes me wonder how many I have missed.

Maybe?..not sure, but 2 or 3 other points from same 20 yard area are very similar in shape...best I can ID is Big Sandy...maybe I should create a new type...."Small Sandy!"

That is really a nice one Joe don't you think?

Or Li'l Sandy... 8-) Nice, pretty little point there! Congrats- and HH! Yak
p.s. I have the same problem, and now wear glasses all the time when hunting points. Can't see a darned thing w/o them..rrr.

I just looked it up and yeah it looks correct. Big Sandy

The notches and the base look different from a Big Sandy to me could this be a Rowan. It's a nice find for sure and very easy to walk over:thumbsup:

Dang! That is a nice one.

Yes TN...it is one of the nicest made points I have found in some time. It is the first one I've found that I think the base might actually be ground...it seems smoother with no sharp edge...so maybe?...Thanks for the input Rock and Monster...and Yakker I had my contacts in, but it didn't seem to matter!

So are we still thinking Big Sandy? Or is it something else

i would call it a Palmer. It looks more corner notched, than the classic side notched Big Sandy. I have always believed that Palmers were extremely worn out Kirks. JMHO

Id have to 2nd that due to the twist in the blade. TY ED

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not sure what it will finally be labeled, but I will say that I have found a few others nearby with the same basic shape and size and even material. Either way, I figure it is pretty old since lots of the points from this area that fit that archaic era have a similar base with lobes.

Palmer is old
