Got this yesterday at TS. I cost me $8 & change. I've be saving all or most of the silver I buy, but for silver jewelry I can't say if I'm ahead of spot price or not, because I really don't keep track of what I gave other than what I believe I paid. I've got over 400 grams of silver smalls now or about $175. in spot value, but sold individually there's no telling the value it would be? If anything I never pay a lot for any of what I find, as that's the whole point of TS and GS treasure hunting. This brooch looks like some kind of tribal piece. Has a pretty obscure hallmark and what looks like 925? at least I can make out something 25 in the rectangle shape cartouche on the left.

Congrats! I can't say that's the loveliest brooch I've seen, but it's silver! Ka-ching! Nice accumulation of precious metal!

Yeah it isn't the prettiest piece, but I must say the filigree on the back I like. It's worth about 20 bucks in silver if anything. If and when I do go to sell it I'm hoping someone will completely disagree with the way we're seeing it. I've gotten some pretty wonderful positive feedback from buyers who purchased something I've thought was pretty ugly before. It's all in the eye of the beholder, l guess.

I would have never guessed this was a Scandinavian piece. I was thinking middle eastern.

I like the filigree. The bangle thingies cover it up. Nice hunk of silver!

Congratualtions on the score! :occasion14:

Not only a Solje, but an older Victorian one and likely a wedding gift (Morgengave). A maker's mark or initial is oftentimes under one of the pailettes, usually on the left at 9 o'clock. That's a really nice piece, especially given its age and size.
