Yesterday’s rain quit and we had cool temps in N.C. today, a rare occurrence in the South, in July. I met TNetter Smittyman early this morning. Our first two spot didn’t work out, somewhat deflated we headed for a recent demolition site, where the building had been scraped from the ground.

The hope was that the bulldozer had “revealed” some silver, previously hidden by trash.

Sure enough, after about 10 minutes I spotted this sticking out of the ground. It looked just like a silver quarter.

I flicked it with my finger, and out pops a 1944 Washington quarter.

The very next signal, 12” away, is a shallow silver quarter signal. I pull this clod up, and there is another ‘44 quarter!

Silver quarters in back to back holes.

Smittyman had a silver quarter and a silver dime, so we decided to stop for lunch. It was hot and we both were tired. We went to a cafe and had a nice meal. Over lunch we decided that a bit more hunting might be in order.

We went to one of Smittyman’s “secret” permissions. He usually won’t take anyone there, but today agreed to do so. He is regretting that decision. Within 20 feet of the truck, I got a choppy high tone, the picture is not very good, but I could tell it was a silver half dollar.

Shortly there after a couple of silver dimes got under my coil.

After the second silver dime, Smittyman said we had to go. He said he forgot his “rumatiz” medicine, or some such nonsense.

I was thrilled to have ended the day with 5 silver coins. Only the second Franklin I’ve found in 4.5 years

YTD silver coins: 28

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.

LOL nice finds! I love seeing big silver in a hole. Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Sweet hunt Tom! You owe Smitty big time. I'm beginning to think that he feels sorry for you. [emoji23]
All jokes aside that's a great day Bud. Congratulations!!

A very rewarding hunt for sure. Congrats on all the nice silver.

Now we're metal detecting. Congrats :occasion14:

Silvere x 5! Including a big Ben, which has eluded me so far. Congrats on a great day out, not too many times we find silver poking outta the dirt! I say that construction site has LOTS more to offer...Ddf.

Thanks RN. Smittyman is awesome, he even bought my lunch today! He got silver coins too, so a good time was had by all.

Congrats on that great day Tom, :occasion14: Those Franklins are hard to come by and with digging 5 silvers, I'd be stoked. :headbang:

Good digs, Tom-Congrats for finding ol' Ben!

Well done, Guys! 🙌 You think they leave the keys in that Cat overnight? Just sayin'. 😐

What a heck of a hunt CT! I've started saying detecting is like baseball. If you can hit .300 in terms of site selection and production you're doing pretty darn well. Glad it all worked out today!!
