Bigfoot coil?

What is your opinion of the Bigfoot coil? Is it worth the money? I am interested in one for my Prizm II but want to get everyone's opinion of it first. Thanks

I've had mine for a couple of months and have only begun to use it. I do have a few observations, though.

1. It takes some getting used to, particularly when pinpointing. It works as advertised, but it's different from a round coil so plan on practicing.

2. I wasn't terribly impressed with it the first weekend I used it on an open-field competition relic hunt, but I probably should have practiced more before taking it to a competition.

3. Since then I've used it in my 1920s neighborhood and I absolutely love it. I've gone over yards that I've hit pretty hard before and found things that I had missed including a gold ring and several buffalo and V nickels. For trashier areas it's a great coil.

If you want one anytime soon you really ought to go ahead and buy it. The guy who makes them for Jimmy Sierra died recently, and once the current stock is exhausted there will be a delay before new ones are available. Jimmy is looking for someone to take over the manufacturing, but I don't think he's found anyone yet.

This is nice coil for covering lots of ground quickly. It isn't well suited for trashy sites and also only gets about 6 inches in most soils. It pinpoints very easy by just pulling back on the coil till the signal disappears and then instead of X-ing the target, slide the coil forward. When you hear the sound, it is just at the front or back of the coil. You don't use the center of the coil for pinpointing at all.

Tesoro makes one for most of their detectors only their's is called the Clean Sweep Coil. These coils are very good at beaches for covering lots of sand fast to beat the rest of the small coil boys to the gold rings.

I know the original post is over a year old, but I'm sure there are still people who want to know if it is worth getting.

I have a Bigfoot coil on my 1991 Spectrum and it is my main coil now. I have tried other coils and the Bigfoot is by far the best to cover large areas such as parks, ball diamonds and any other flat ground areas. I have found that even in trashy areas, it still does a fine job if you listen to the response from the detector.

I absolutely love the Bigfoot and will never be without one.

It has paid for itself in the first 2 months I owned it. Tons of clads and quite a bit of silver too. The Bigfoot is a clad monster and also does pretty good on rings. I've found several silver rings, a few gold rings and even a silver chain.

The Bigfoot is not as deep as the standard coil but with a little programming and listening, you can get some pretty impressive finds. It works really well on relics and jewelry. Found a gold medallian at 12 inches.

The clads have been coming so fast that I am able to cash them in to buy the Silver Eagle dollars. I can cover a ball diamond in a little over an hour.

The Bigfoot is an awesome coil that everyone should consider.

I've had the Big Foot now for about 8 months and just love the way it covers a field. I have increased my coin and ring finds and have got the pin pointing down pat now. Had to help find some buried property stakes and found them over 10 inches down. I will always have a coil like this!!

My Bigfoot paid for itself in two weeks (XLT). However the original question was re one for the Prizm. If I did not have a recovery speed adjustment on a detector I don't think I would go for a coil this small (about two inches across the windings) because I would not be able to optimise the performance.

I had one at one time and I thought it sucked I had it on a prism 5 it screwed with my detector and threw it off wack. If you want to get one minton7 can get you one, try contacting him and see if you can get one.
