Biloxi hunting

Im here in Biloxi and have hunted a couple of times on the beach. Not knowing the beach well ive hunted near a couple of large hotels. The beach has been replaced and is pretty darn clean except for large metal sheets. But those sheets are easy to ID. I havent seen any other people detecting on the beach here. Still looking for someone in the area to hunt with. Im hopeing to be here another week.

Hey don't give up yet!
I spent the day down there last year and dug 96 coins, 1 ring, and an earring with stones (not real). It was an enjoyable day, although I was hoping to find more jewelry.

The good part is the beach is fairly clean. That means if you dig you have a much better idea as to what you are after and less time is spent digging junk. Ive been finding a good bit of copper sheets from the older homes easily identified by the size and blast of sound. Off again today to do some more hunting hopeing the weekend croud cleared a little.

Hunted across from a small children park today where some palm trees are. Found a little over $3 in clad and a cheap silver ring. Still havent found tha SPOT yet but im covering a lot of beach.

Sounds like a pretty good day. What am I saying, any day MDing is better than being at work.

Hi folks. I spent last winter in Biloxi (Nov-Apr) and went MDing along the beach from Ocean Springs to Gulfport. I found it slow going after the new sand was put down but did find one area that still remained good. Just west of the little island which was part of the Treasure Bay complex is strip of beach that contained many old corroded slot machines that had been cover by about a foot of sand. It might be worth the effort to do some detecting and digging. I found new and older silver including dollars, half-dollars, quarters, and dimes. This was the hottest spot I found. Let me know what find. I will be back next winter since my son and family live in gulfport. Good luck hunting.

Thanks for the heads-up Jay. Just goes to show what kind of people are on Treasurenet. I haven't had the chance to MD the coast yet. But I hope to make it down some time this summer. I am sure there are a lot of people already hitting the beach to play, soak up some sun and put some targets in the sand. Anyone interested in trying to set up a road trip. I am looking at just after Memorial Day, maybe in the middle of the week. Thanks again Jay.

My wife and I just got back from Bay St. Louis yesterday. We only saw one MD'er working a beach toward Waveland. Older man with a long beard. We detected Long beach and S Beach Blvd. There were a few people around but nobody in the water. Found a little clad but thats about all. Had a great time though. Weather was perfect. Stayed at the Hollywood casino RV park. Their dungeness crab buffet is not to be missed. My wife managed to win back what I lost at the casino so it was a great trip. Will be doing again soon!

well folks mrs six and i are heading to biloxi the 23rd-26th gonna hit the beach on sunday possibly if i don't win big in the casinos..lol...if anyone wants to set up a beach combing party ,let me know..six
