What a beautiful day it was so I ventured out during my lunchtime from work.
I started walking the edge of the property that our facility sits on, enjoying the weather, watching the birds in the trees, and looking out for possible areas at the tree line to detect.
I spotted a beautiful bluejay sitting on a limb and swung my camera up to take a picture. When he flew away, I stepped back a couple of steps and looked down at my camera to see if I got a good shot.....and there it was!!!
RIGHT AT MY FEET!
My "find" of today. :o

Needless to say, I will not be detecting THAT side of the property.
I went back inside. :(

I shared this picture with ModernMiner and few other choice employees when I went back inside.
The picture is not for the weak hearted. Ekkkkk!

I have no problem with snakes. The snakes in Germany are very small, took me over 18 years to see my first snake here. HH, Mike

Size 12 redwing steel toed boot. That's all I have to say about that.

Nice black rat,

I got a whole family of them in my yard. My 4 yr old son picked up a 4 ft black rat last summer and brought him up onto the front porch. They are very harmless snakes. And will not even strike at you. A garter snake is more aggressive.

They are very good snakes to have around. Most folks are very scared of them. They make really good captive pets. I've seen these snakes eat full grown Robins.

That looks strangely similar to my ex-psycho. I didn't know she moved........ :-)

Whoa!! I hate Snakes...When I go into the woods I pretend I will Never See them...Usually works until one falls out of the tree and lands at your feet.

In NY I'd call it a rat snake and part peaceably. We have them patrolling our garden and the nearby woods.

Does kind of set your eyes spinning when they come to say "Hi" up close like. Aside from the rumored but never seen rattlesnakes we're pretty free of venomous snakes so I strictly obey the live & let live practice to keep my karma clean.

The good news (I think) is that I'm seeing many more kinds lately than I ever remember as a kid (and believe me I looked). We used to have garter and "red-racer" (redbelly snakes). In the past two years I've seen them and seven other species, which I think is a good thng. Biodiversity, don't you know. Must be global warming or I spend more time looking down for coins.
