Blame it on the rain

Went to a construction project that has produced some good finds. It's getting close to wrapping up and the finds have been dwindling. Was hoping maybe some dirt got moved around. No such luck!
But we had a gulley washer of a storm last night and I noticed a number of washouts along the length of the new walks. So I took out the machine with the small coil and tried to get into every crevice of the washouts. Glad I did.



Couple decent IHPs. One of desirable date.



Another of those slick Shield Nickels. Must be the year of the shield nickel. This is the fourth Shield Nickel I've pulled in the last month. I haven't even seen a V Nickel this year (not complaining, just mystified).



This is the find of the day! As far as I could find...it is a WWII USPHS pin. Also seen it called a Naval Nurse's pin. The pin is still intact! Back says Sterling by Blackinton.

The 1875 Indian Cent is a great find !
There are not very many of any 1870's dated Indian Cents out there.
