Bless Mom's heart

My Mom passed away in 2004 and for months before she passed she would tell my three sisters and me that she had "some money". As she was pretty heavily medicated we always just went along with her chaliking it up to the meds. After she passed we joked about where Mom had hidden "her money". We half heartedly made a few searches of her things and did actually find an envelope with three twenty dollar bills which we figured must have been her stash.
Last night my youngest daughter and I were in my attic looking for something my sister had asked about and came upon Mom's sewing cabinet (small cabinet with three drawers my Dad had made her). Out of curiosity I opened one of the drawers and there right in plain sight was one of those paper envelopes you get from the bank. Opened it up and inside were three one hundred dollar bills!! My daughter knew the story of Mom's "hidden money" and we both just burst out laughing. My daughter lost her job a few months back and has been unable to find work (she's a college grad) so I figured she could use it more than anyone. I handed it to her and said it would make her MeeMaw happy to know she was helping her out. Guess Mom had the last laugh on us!!

Wonderful story. I am sure she will be missed. As for your daughter, please have her look at www.cgnad.com. We are in Charlotte and the piedmont area of NC and are looking for people in the food service industry and our headquarters in charlotte. We are a $10 Billion company so it has great benefits.

be sure to keep a eye on your states unclaimed money fund, most states have this list online with the states treasury department, my dad had a account no one remembered and it showed up after a few years and we were able to claim those funds, he also had a insurance policey that we were able to collect on, he had lost the paper work years before so no one knew about it.you never know.

Thanks for all the kind comments and advice folks. That's why I love this sight-so many people that will go out of their way to comment and help!!
The funny thing is I know without a doubt that envelope was not there when my sisters and I were going through Mom's things. How I got there I have no idea, other than my folks are definitely looking after me even though they're gone.

Re: Bless Mom's heart

oh if mom was a "money hider" there might be lots of lil stashes hidden about -- folks that hide money tend to either make one large or many small hoards --looks like yer mom was of the --many small hoards type .
