Monday in NC was beautiful... sunny and got up to 80 degrees! I was unable to go to work due to the weather, so instead, I hooked up with Smittyman and we went out for a hunt. The second spot was the good one for me, I got a '42 Merc and a sterling charm... whatever was welded to the face of the charm was long gone though. I also managed to find a couple of dog tags, broken eagle, key and handful of Wheaties throughout the day. Of course, I found a bunch of clad and lots of trash, but didn't think that you would want to see all that.

The other day while hunting, I found a small encrusted coin like object... smaller than a dime. I put it on a wheat cent, to show the size. After some electrolysis, a 1940s bus token appeared! It says "Duke Power Company" on it. I was really happy to see something good emerge from what I thought was just junk. Check your finds closely!

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts!

Nice silvers Tom, im still waiting for that nice day...

Blew off work due to good weather? Lol that's classic!

Awesome finds, I really like that token, and it goes w/o saying the silver is great, nice job!

Great finds Tom. You're sounding a little sick cough cough shouldn't you take off tomorrow because I know you'd hate to spread it to coworkers. Keep up the good work.

You made a fine choice CT! I shall do the same on any day I deem too nice to work on

Congrats on the silver, that token really cleaned up nice and looks great. I'm going to have to look into figuring out the electrolysis thing.

Sweet!! I love those old tokens and of coarse silver is always a good thing.

Funny how the weather can change your day so fast. Lol Glad to see you took advantage of your call in.

Congrats on the silvers. The token is real cool too.

Now you can ride the New Street car to NO Where ! if they ever get running.
Glad too see you back on a Silver Streak !:occasion14:

Nice token Tom, I found one myself in Charlotte. Mine is copper, is yours aluminum?

Mine is cooper or some alloy of it. It was completely covered in green concretion... little pieces of sand embedded in it. I scratched at it until you could see "owe", then I suspected it might be something good, so I zapped it for about an hour and a half to remove the crust. I was amazed at how good it came out.

Smittyman said that you had found one prior. It is my first bus token, so I am quite happy with it.
Thanks man!

Nice finds. and i thought you might like this pic.

Hey Tom! Nice finds man. Glad to see you got out and about. I hadn't seen you post lately so I was wondering if you had been able to hunt any. Silver coins are always nice but that token is flat out cool. It turned out great. Do you have any pics of it before the electrolysis?

Happy Hunting!

Very nice hunt some nice items you found
Its not the kill its the thrill ofbthe hunt !
That keeps us going. Eastcoasthunter21 !!

Good Job CT!! Like the token, all must have been made at the same place, I have a few from the water and they look almost identical.

The most memorable days are the ones where you blow off work to go detecting. I did that often and I was a supervisor so I didn't go spastic when someone else did the same. Nice finds Tom.

Thanks OBN.
The token was made by Scoville... the same company that makes the buttons... out of Waterbury, CT.
