Monday in NC was beautiful... sunny and got up to 80 degrees! I was unable to go to work due to the weather, so instead, I hooked up with Smittyman and we went out for a hunt. The second spot was the good one for me, I got a '42 Merc and a sterling charm... whatever was welded to the face of the charm was long gone though. I also managed to find a couple of dog tags, broken eagle, key and handful of Wheaties throughout the day. Of course, I found a bunch of clad and lots of trash, but didn't think that you would want to see all that.

The other day while hunting, I found a small encrusted coin like object... smaller than a dime. I put it on a wheat cent, to show the size. After some electrolysis, a 1940s bus token appeared! It says "Duke Power Company" on it. I was really happy to see something good emerge from what I thought was just junk. Check your finds closely!

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts!

Nice going Tom. I hope the boss doesn't read this, lol. I have never found a transportation token. Would be a good one for me.

You should have Christian Laettner rub that token for luck, then loan it to Coach K. He may need it this year, lol. Go Cats!

Nice job on the work "called due to sunshine" I remember as a roofer we would draw a circle on the roof, if three drops of rain would land in the circle, then it was off to the Go Go Bar!

Nice finds, especially with your hillbilly zapper, dam sweet machine. Not to rub it in, BUT, I'm headed over to a friends yard to detect then down to a beach on the Delaware Bay to look for another friends keys that he lost last summer. The yard/ house is not old house, but the yard sat between two very old bars, never know who might of staggered through it back in the day?

Couldn't resist

Don't let him fool you Tom. He's off to find that bikini girl he met last summer! We never did get details of that lunch either!

I'm glad you found some cool items on your hunt. You would have felt terrible had you wasted a day off and found a handful of Wheaties. The token is very cool. Have you been able to date it yet?

Thanks Beez. It would have been a bit of a bummer if I can home empty handed, especially since we hunted all day long. I enjoy the hunt, but I really enjoy the finds!

The bus token is from the 1940s. Duke Power Co. used to run the buses in Charlotte, so that is why their name is on the token. Other Charlotte based MDers (Mangum & JimDon) have found one. I wish that I had a "before" picture, it was covered in green, the little slots were covered over. The Zapper really worked well on the little rascal.

Couldn't resist

Mine was made by Scovill Mfg out of Waterbury, CT (CW button manufacturer), I bet that yours was too! Nice find. Good luck on your hunts!

Looks like you called out "well."

Work: Hello? What is it, Tom?

Tom: Welllllll, I won't be in today.

Good job, Tom! :laughing7:

Hey Tom, I'm upgrading to a bounty hunter 202 so look out.

Very nice finds! Could you please send some of that warm weather to Massachusetts? It's going to snow tomorrow. :BangHead:

I would of done the same thing haha, it's still cold somewhat here quite yet. Nice finds!

Cool finds.

80 degrees huh?? We haven't had any days over 65 yet. It's been chilly and muddy forever around here.

But, tomorrow's supposed to be in the 70's. I'm hoping I can leave work early and go on my FIRST hunt of 2015; at least for a couple of hours.
I think I'll hit my favorite school field.

I'm hoping that lots of good stuff's been piling up over the last few months. I'm really feeling the itch returning now that the mercury is beginning to rise.

I do envy you folks in the South. I can barely remember what it's like to have a nice warm sunny day but it won't be long at all now........
