Very interesting, had never heard nor read of it before.

The writer of the story truly paints an image for the mind....

It can be envisioned of a council of Native Americans, tribe unknown,
gathered around this fire in the cool, crisp night air, partaking of this ceremonial pipe,
huddled under the stars and surrounded by the virgin nature of the time.

I've held a piece of an ancient clay bowl while walking near Mount Carmel, in Israel,
where the prophet Elijah was said to have spent much time. I believe that holding
an artifact like that, in some manner allows us to almost feel history. There's
an immediate consciousness that what you're holding in your hands is unique, special,
and will tell many stories so long as the holder will listen.

Wow. I see how he could have thought it was a manifold. I wonder however it came to be left there? That's something you would want to hang on to.

I have a nice steleite bird pipe I found in Missouri 35+ years ago. Multiple friends over the years wanted me to put a little herb in it and try it out, but I have always refused to do so. I like the fact the last person to smoke from it was thousands of years ago.

I probably wouldn’t be able to show the same restraint.

The Indian who made it thousands of years ago would probably figure it pretty cool that some white guy a few thousand years down the road would find his piece, hold it in high regard, and use it just as he had.

That’s a huuuuge Copena pipe, nice. I have one but not nearly as large. Mine is 9”. Dixon, TN. Was found on a private farm in the early 1900’s.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1570163146.925636.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1570163225.509728.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1570163276.097324.webp

There's a picture on J and Dees Facebook page of a guy not pictured here holding that pipe. I've not heard good things about their service or store, I for one wouldn't trust that thing.

I read the whole thing. Interesting there isn't even a ding on it from plowing from, what, 100 years, considering where it was found and when...

Sunny side, I really like your pipe. All the dings and scratches in just the right places!

FYI, Sunny Side is on timeout for rule violations and cant reply right now.

Don't run him off I love his contributions!

Hang in there Sunny Side!

He wasn't run off by treasurehunter, he's was runoff by kantuck and dognose.

I'm not trying to run anyone off and I can't speak for dognose but I doubt that he is either. Read my last post in the Mississippian pipe thread... I hope it's not a long timeout. Perhaps a warning would have been more appropriate??

Kindest regards,
Kantuck

I'll try to find it...

I'll ask again how are you not on timeout?

Pretty sure you violated some rules too (used correctly) in your posts.
