Bone? gorget?

My grandad left this to me.For the longest time i never had any idea what is was.But not too long ago i got to lookin at native stuff,and it reminded me of some sort of gorget.I dont know if he made it or if it was givin to him whatever it is?It is about 2 1/4 long and almost 1 wide.And as far as i can tell is made of some kind of bone.

My bad but now that I know, it looks like something used to keep straps and lashing from slipping, was your grandfather from the coast or near it.

Crazy.. plummet/gorget thingy.
The drill holes look correct to be very old.
It looks like polished stone to me is it lite? why do you think its bone?
I doubt if your grandfather left it to you it was just something he messed around with and made.

He was born and raised in west Va,I think it is bone because it does seem to lite to be stone imo.I say "left" it to me ,because i found it in a cigar box under his bed, along with other small stuff after he passed.The old man never had much.

Now that i really looked at it, it might be stone.little more heavy then i originaly thought.Mabey the color threw me off,Bone was just my first thought.

I did that and it did kind of feel and sound like that.I think it might be stone now.
