point/ or is that what was used to put the fine touches on a point? like serrations? Nice find, :icon_thumleft: still looking myself, for a bone tool, and axe, and pipe and.......

That bone piece is FANTASTIC!!!.....I think it is a awl,or a tool like that......A super great find!

Excellent. Imagine how long that bone survived the elements. What do you suppose was the original purpose?

i am thinking it is either a perforating tool or it could have been a pottery shaping spatula

it might have been a pressure flaking tool like naturegirl says but they usually were made from antler
however since it is bone (a lot softer material) i am thinking it should show some use wear if it was used for flaking
never the less it still is a way cool piece

Wow!!That's a sweet find

Nice. That bone must have just washed into that creek cause one season and it would have not been recognisable unless it was buried in muck. Nice @ss rescue!

I would say awl or pottery spatula.
Very nice find.

very cool piece. That probably wasn't in the creek too long before you found it, probably eroded out from some interesting site upstream.

Nice Bone Tool choo. I too would have to say it probably just eroded out and wasn't there long before you found it. It's probably either an Awl or a Spatula. Either way it's one helluva find man. Great job.

I think I would be checking the banks for evidence of a Woodland site eroding out. No telling what you might find.

Thanks for all the comments this is the second bone piece I have found in this creek last year I found a bone awl about a hundred yards below the piece I found I also found a clay trade pipe last year in this creek, this creek is producing alot of good stuff the creek forks at the head of it and narrows this is were im finding the good stuff I have found a couple of big knives, and some broken points on this creek, im thinking theres a fort ancient site some were on the creek, all i need to do now is find it.

Are there any spots along the banks where you can see Mussell Shell or Pottery Shards washing out? If you can finds spots where those are prevelant then you will find the Ft Ancient site. You'll need to look up high on the bank since the site would probably be in the first few feet of the top of the bank. Look for a black line in the soil. That will show you years of occupaton and where the Middens are.

Good luck and let us know if you find it.
